Information on Northaven's Special holiday
services
Please plan to be present for worship during
Northaven's special holiday worship services in the next two weeks. There are
many different services that will be inspiring and uplifting to your spirit.
It's an exciting time at Northaven Church, and you won't want to miss the very
first Christmas/New Year's services in Northaven's new
sanctuary.All of the following services
will be held in the new
sanctuary:Christmas Eve 5:30 pm:
This worship service will be geared
specially for families and children. It will feature music of the season, and a
re-telling of the Christmas story that invites the congregation to take a part
by providing sound effects that add to the story. The service will end with the
singing of "Silent Night," and the lighting of Christmas Eve
candles.Christmas Eve 11
pm:This worship service will be an
abbreviated "Lessons and Carols" service. It will feature the reading of many of
the traditional Christmas scriptures, and the singing of many of the traditional
Christmas hymns. It will also end with the singing of "Silent Night" and the
lighting of Christmas Eve
candles.Christmas Day Worship 11
am:Christmas falls on a Sunday this year,
and Northaven will hold regular Sunday worship. Michael Hawn will be our
worship/song leader, and Eric Folkerth will be our preacher. There will be
communion, and the "Great Thanksgiving" will be a special Christmas litany that
is sung by the whole congregation. The first part of the service will feature a
"carol sing" of favorite Christmas carols. Michael Hawn and Jerry
Bywaters-Cochran will also dance and sing a moving version of "Silent
Night."(There will be no regular Sunday School
on Christmas Day)New Year's Eve
"Watch Night" Service 7 pm:Let by Rev.
Gary McDonald, this traditional Methodist service will feature the Wesleyan
"Covenant Prayer." It's a traditional way of bringing in the New Year. Families
of all ages are invited to this worship service, which will be followed by a
Youth Lock-In. Contact John Hughes for more information about
the New Year's Eve lock in.New
Year's Day Worship 11 am:New Year's Day
also falls on a Sunday. So, before you settle in for bowl games, please come to
worship! This service will also be a "Covenant Service" that will feature the
traditional Methodist "Covenant Prayer." We will offer special "Prayers of the
People" that look back on the year that has been, and forward to the year that
will be. And because it's a "first Sunday" we'll also have holy communion this
day; an even better way to start your new year than Black-eyed Peas.
(There will be no regular Sunday School on New
Year's Day)Church Office Holiday

offices will be closed from December 26 through January 2nd. The offices will
open again on January 3rd. Should you have a pastoral emergency during the
