Northaven Church Selected as Black Tie Dinner Beneficiary
The Only Church Among Eighteen 2006
Beneficiaries
Northaven Church learned this week that we have
been selected as a 2006 Beneficiary of the Black Tie
Dinner.According to their website,
the Black Tie Dinner is "a nonprofit organization that raises funds for gay and
lesbian supportive organizations serving North Texas through a premier event of
empowerment, education, and entertainment in partnership with the
community."
The
actual dinner is held in the Fall of each year, and is attended by almost 3,000
persons. This year's dinner will be at the Adam's Mark Hotel on November 11
at 6 pm.Many Northaven members have
been involved in the planning and organization of the Black Tie Dinner since its
inception 25-years-ago. But, this is the first time that Northaven has applied
and been accepted as a beneficiary of the dinner's fundraising
efforts."We are deeply honored by this
recognition for Northaven Church by the Dallas gay and lesbian community," said
Senior Pastor Eric Folkerth. "We know what a distinct honor this is, and we
offer our sincere thanks to the community for selecting
us."We have been told that Northaven
Church is the only church among the 18 beneficiaries selected for 2006. As a
beneficiary, there will be many opportunities for volunteers and participants in
the Black Tie Dinner, and we'll post more about these as they become
available.In 2005, the dinner
distributed $1.24 million dollars, the largest distribution of any gay and
lesbian fundraising Dinner in the nation, the cumulative 24-year distribution
total of the Black Tie Dinner is over $9.1
million.Thank you, Black Tie! We are
honored to be a part of you and stand with you!
