Upcoming Sundays at Northaven
Brief descriptions of the special events
happening worship during May and June
The next month in Worship at Northaven promises to
be an exciting mix of special Sundays that you won't want to miss. We'll
celebrate our youth, our Capital Campaign, the era of John Thornburg, and also
say goodbye to two beloved staff
members.
Youth Sunday, May 14: This special Sunday will be planned and led by the youth of our church. High School Senior, Murphey Rayle, will be our preacher for the day. A special interactive time of meditations will invite each worshipper to participate by moving to several "stations" around the sanctuary.
Fulfilling the Vision Pledge Sunday, May 21: We will celebrate the close of our capital campaign by prayerfully offering our pledges in worship. The worship will feature the Northaven Orchestra and Movement Choir. All persons are invited to join us for a community lunch following worship, and an announcement of our pledge total. Please call the church office (214-363-2479) and let us know you are coming to the lunch, so that we can plan accordingly. John Hughes Preaches, May 28: Our Youth Director, John Hughes, will be leaving our staff soon to begin his exciting journey in Australia. John will preach on this Sunday, as a part of his saying "goodbye."
Christina Hildebrand, Preaches June 4: Our Minister of Education, Christina Hildebrand will also soon leave our staff, and we celebrate her new calling to life as a stay at home mom. She will be preaching a last sermon with us on this Sunday.
Northaven Remembers the Thornburg Years, June 11: Plan to be in worship this Sunday, as our 50th Anniversary celebration continues and Northaven remembers the era of John Thornburg: the 1990s. John will be our special guest preacher this day, and there will be a litany to honor his ministry and the important events in the life of the church. A reception for John and Beth will follow worship. (Look for much more about this special Sunday in the next edition of Northaven Now...)
Goodbye to Christina and John, June 18: We'll say our final "goodbyes" to Christina Hildebrand and John Hughes on this morning, through litanies, and a special "sending" for each of them.
