Second Capital Campaign Letter
from Bob Dupuy and Eric

May 10,
2006
Dear Fellow
Northavener:
In just a few days
each of us will have the opportunity to make a crucial difference in the life of
our church. May 21 is our Commitment Sunday, the day to make our pledges to this
second Capital Campaign.
In
2002, we had a challenge: Can we build a new home that will provide the kind of
ministry we envision? Today, the construction is behind us, and we already are
beginning to see the result of our labor. Our ministry is gaining strength. The
number of members and worship attendance have increased
significantly.
But now we have
a new challenge: fulfilling the vision by reducing the debt. If we succeed, our
new home continues to be a vital part of our ministry – not an impediment
to our work as God’s
servants.
The different
circumstances could cause us to think that this endeavor is not as critical as
what we did in 2002. But the importance of meeting our goal is the same, and
every pledge will be needed to meet it. Enclosed is a chart that illustrates how
we can raise our target amount of $1.2 million, and why this Capital Campaign,
like the first, is not about equal giving, but equal sacrifice.
You will also find enclosed a
pledge card that we are asking you to fill out and bring with you to place in a
special altar basket on Commitment Sunday. A pledge can be payable over a
three-year period, and as indicated on the card, it can be changed in the
future.
If you’re unable
to attend Commitment Sunday, an envelope is provided so you can mail in your
pledge. We hope you do come, though, because a special service of inspiring
music and liturgy has been planned, followed by a celebration lunch and
announcement of total pledges received. Our aim is to collect all cards in time
to count them on May 21.
In
the coming days, we ask you to prayerfully consider what you can do to make a
difference in the future ministry of
Northaven.
Sincerely,
Bob Dupuy and Eric
