Category Image Richard Deats at Northaven: Remembering Hiroshima, Considering Iran

7 pm, Sunday August 6th

Richard recently returned from Iran where he was part of an Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) peace delegation and will be speaking about his experiences and observations of the trip. He will also be teaching the Cornerstone Class on Sunday morning during the Adult Sunday School hour at 9:30 am

Jim and Gail Smith invite those of you who would like the opportunity to speak to Richard Deats further to join them for lunch at their house for pizza and salad after church service. If you can, let them know if you plan to eat with them so they can order enough pizza. (gsmith9782@aol.com)

Richard is a friend of many years and we're pleased that Northaven will serve as host to this interfaith event sponsored by the Dallas Peace Center (a recipient of Northaven's Human Development Fund).

Rev. Richard Deats, Ph,D., served as executive director and editor of Fellowship magazine at the FOR where he worked from 1972 to mid-2005. A native of Big Spring, Texas, he taught social ethics in the Philippines and at Union Theological Seminary from 1959 to 1972. Long active in civil rights and peace, he has lectured and led workshops on nonviolence in many countries. He is author of a number of books, including biographies of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi.
