Countdown to the Black Tie Dinner
Ticket Sales Day is August
26th
The countdown to the Black Tie Dinner has begun,
and an important deadline is approaching: Ticket Sales Day on Saturday, Aug.
26.By this day, Northaven's BTD planning
committee will need to have all money in hand for our tables. If you have told
a committee member you're planning to come but haven't written your check,
please do so as soon possible. Also, a few seats are still available at our
tables -- so if you want to go, it's not too late to say so! Please contact
Ron Bobbitt at
ronbobbitt@yahoo.com
-- again, as soon as possible. Also,
we're still hoping to raise funds to fully underwrite a very special project:
a “pastors’ table” that would introduce local Methodist
clergy to the incredible breadth and scope of Dallas’ gay and lesbian
community. Indeed, we've learned that change often comes one heart at a time,
and that’s why the planning committee believes it’s important to
“humanize” this issue for our clergy. One way, we know, is to
invite them to witness this incredible
event. So far, the committee has received
checks and pledges totaling $1,700 toward the $3,000 needed to invite four
pastors and their spouses, all of whom will sit at the table to be hosted by
Eric and Dennise. If you would like to donate
to this table, please contact Ron at ronbobbitt@yahoo.com, or simply make your check
out to Northaven and give it to one of the members of the planning committee:
Dick Weaver, Mary Mallory, Shirley Cooper, Marlene Haskell, Trey Jordan, Bob
Souter, Nan Arnold and Nancy
Kruh.Still want other ways you can help?
The committee is continuing to sell $100 raffle tickets and recruit volunteers
for the event. Stop by the table in the
atrium this Sunday for both opportunities! You can drop off your checks there,
too.
