Bishop Rhymes Moncure dies
Please be in prayer for his family, and for
our Annual Conference
 With
great sorrow, we pass along the word that we have received from the North Texas
Conference: our Bishop, Rhymes H. Moncure Jr., died late last night, two weeks a
surgery for a brain tumor. By all accounts, Bishop Moncure came through his
August 7th surgery for a benign brain tumor well. However, complications arose
and the Bishop soon lost consciousness. He died late last night at a Dallas
hospital. Please continue to be in prayer
for the Bishop's wife, Jewell Moncure, and for their children and grandchildren.
Please continue to be in prayer for our District Superintendents and Conference
Staff who will be dealing with the personal loss of a friend and colleague, an
also the added challenge of the work of the conference, without our spiritual
leader.Many Northaveners fondly remember
the Bishop's warm and inviting presence at our Consecration Service earlier this
Spring. And many of us signed a card, offering our prayers to he and his family,
just this past
Sunday. An
email from the Conference Office this morning says that the Bishop's family
members: "are deeply grateful for all of
the prayers, kind expressions of support, and love that have come from North
Texas clergy and laity during these difficult days. Sunday will be an
opportunity for churches offer prayers of gratitude to God for Bishop Moncure,
his family, and the incredible gift he and they have been in all our lives.
Details on plans to celebrate Bishop Moncure's life will be communicated as soon
as they are
available."Schedule
