Nightline Tonight
The Lee Family Interviewed: Katrina One
year later
You will no doubt recall that today marks the
one-year anniversary of
Hurricane Katrina. You
will probably also recall that our
congregation,
through the leadership of Shannon
Hamrick, helped to furnish a house for
the Lee
family who evactuated to Dallas from New Orleans. Shannon
sent
me an email today, letting me know that
Mrs. Lee will be interviewed as
a part of
Nightline tonight. She thought you might all like to
know
that.
Here's
a part of Shannon's message:
I
talked to Barbara Lee, the matriarch of the family from New
Orleans
whose house we furnished
last September. Her family is back in
NOLA,
continuing to work on
repairing their home, and working hard in
their
commercial cleaning
business.
As you may
recall, Barbara lost her mother to death at the
Convention
Center before coming
to Dallas. Apparently, on Nightline tonight
some
survivors will be
interviewed regarding loss of loved ones, and she
will
be one of them. She said it
was good to be able to talk about it,
and
to honor her mother's memory
publicly.
