FeastFest: September 14-15-16
A weekend-long celebration of music, art,
drama, and social action.

Northaven
United Methodist Church will host a festival of the performing and visual arts
September 14-16 featuring a jazz concert by the Freddie Jones Jazz Ensemble, a
silent art auction, a book fair, and a dramatic presentation, “Jonah and
God,” by Dallas playwright and Northaven member Vicki Caroline
Cheatwood.
The arts festival is planned
in conjunction with Northaven’s annual Feast of Beginnings, a tradition of
long standing that ushers in the church’s fall programs. The Feast of
Beginnings will be celebrated during the 11 a.m. service Sunday, Sept. 16, and
with a dinner and program that
evening.
Admission to the festival is
free. Donations will be accepted for musical performances, which, in addition to
the Freddie Jones group, will include folk singers Jack Kennedy and the
Catdaddies, Eric Folkerth, and Rick O’Connor. The book fair will charge
nominal prices for gently used books, compact disks, and DVDs. Funds raised
during the festival will benefit Northaven’s year round arts
programs.
Dallas artist Joan Hogge will
lead a painting workshop for adults and children to paint canvases and a mural
for a portion of the upstairs gallery area of the
church.
