Seminar with Tiffany Steinwert: Preparing for General Conference
November 3, 10 am- 3 pm

“We
create change in our church and in our world by telling our stories. Stories
communicate our values through the language of the heart. Rather than
antagonizing a spirit of divisiveness and polarization by engaging in fruitless
debates, telling our stories fosters relationships by creating empathetic links
that bridge the cultural and ecclesial divides.” Reverend Tiffany
Steinwert The 2008
General Conference of the United Methodist Church will be in Ft. Worth,
TXTake part in a witness
to our North Texas Conference delegates by joining in a two-step
approach:1. Participate in a
training session led by Rev. Tiffany
Steinwert 2. Create a fellowship of
communication with one
(or more) of the elected delegates to
General Conference - at events hosted by
Northaven and other area
churches - regularly through the coming
months Or be an alternate for such
eventsRev. Steinwert will lead us in
learning how to advocate for full inclusion of GLBT persons within the United
Methodist Church through building relationships and telling our Reconciling
stories. We will develop techniques to
interact effectively with the delegates by going over talking points and
practicing telling our stories. The training
time is four hours. An hour for lunch (provided) is also
included. The
commitment is for that session and to prayerfully consider being a part of our
longer-term project to interact with delegates and witness at the General
Conference.To register or for
