Human Development Fund Criteria for Applications

Thank you for your interest in receiving a grant from the Northaven United Methodist Church Human Development Fund.

Northaven’s Human Development Fund will accept grant applications from September of 2009 through December 4, 2009 with the final decision on grants to be made in January 2010. Grant applications must be received by December 4, 2009 to be considered for a 2010 grant. Grant recipients can expect to receive full payment in February 2010. All agencies will be notified of the status of their grant request in February 2010. Questions regarding the grant process can be directed to:

Sandy Long, Human Development Fund Committee Chair
214-351-3312

or please contact the church office at 214-363-2479.

The guidelines used in making grants are that the requesting organization:

  • Be not for profit.
  • Be an organization. Gifts to individuals are rare.
  • Be connected to a member of Northaven or the greater United Methodist Church. (Preferable, but not required.)
  • Address the issues of poverty, education, justice, medical needs and/or special populations.
  • Be located locally, although national and international gifts will be considered.
  • Be able to show sustained support for established agencies or projects.
  • Understand that the gift is for one year and a new application is required each year.
