The Alan Ross Freedom Parade

The 35th Annual Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade (Pride Parade) is Sunday, September 16, at 2:00 p.m. We are marching with the other Reconciling Churches and Communities of North Texas, and we have 5 spaces in this year’s parade – collectively we are #43. The theme for the parade this year is Vote NOH8 in the Lone Star State.  If you would like to march in the parade, you need to be there in the line up by 1:30p.m. Questions can be directed to Mahlon Hight or Kati Wise.

The Black Tie Dinner

Black Tie Dinner, Inc, is a non-profit organization that raises funds for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender supportive organizations serving North Texas through a premier event of empowerment, education and entertainment in partnership with the community. BTD was begun in 1982 by some very dedicated people in the GLBT community of Dallas and has since grown to become the largest LGBT fundraising event of its kind in the nation. During the past 35 years, BTD has distributed over $15 million dollars to its national and local beneficiaries.

Northaven United Methodist Church is very honored to be counted in the group of local beneficiaries. The monies received from BTD have allowed Northaven to develop and host programs that further support social justice and diversity in our community. Northaven also hosts Coming Out Workshop, Straight Spouse Network, PFLAG, and other groups supporting the LGBT community and their families, friends, spouses, and partners.
