Three Irregular Squares - Red, Blue, Purple

Rev. Monica Frazier comes to Northaven with over 25 years of ministry experience, and she could not be more thrilled by this appointment. Northaven's identity as a radically inclusive, justice-rooted congregation resonates deeply with who she is and how she leads. She is eager to join a community where people who are serious about building a more just world can do that work together, heal past wounds, and find a genuinely nonjudgmental home in which to grow in community and faith.

Monica's path to ordained ministry was not a straight line, and she thinks that's part of the point. A Catholic upbringing, a graduate degree from Notre Dame, and a season away from organized religion altogether have given her a hard-won empathy for everyone who has ever felt pushed out or let down by the church. That empathy, alongside a rich ministry spanning established churches and a new church plant, working on staff at the North Texas Conference, directing retreats and an AmeriCorps justice program, and most recently serving as Pastor of Adult Ministries and Care at First UMC Dallas, has shaped her into a pastor who is equally at home in the pulpit, at the Pride March, or at the bedside, walking with people through both life's celebrations and its hardest moments.

As a senior pastor, Monica understands her calling as creating spaces where people can encounter God in real and transformative ways, and then supporting them as they discern how to live that out with courage, compassion, and purpose in the world. She leads with her sleeves rolled up, believing that listening well is the foundation of serving well. She brings strong organizational instincts and a collaborative spirit, and is passionate about equipping lay leaders to lead with confidence and clarity. She also holds the shared, sacred moments of church life with deep care, creating space where all are truly welcome and trusting that the Spirit is at work in ways far beyond any one person's leadership.

Monica's wife Rev. Dr. Laulie Eckeberger serves as a pastor at Holy Covenant UMC in Carrollton and they have been married for 11 years. Together they are owned by two elderly pugs named Regina and Alice, who have strong opinions and very little regard for personal space. Monica cannot wait to get to know the Northaven community in this season together.
